The five-day summer camp at Calhoun Community College's Decatur Campus are perfect for 9th-12th grade students eager to learn hands-on technical skills for high-paying, in-demand careers. With each camp offering space for 25 participants, students will dive into the world of cyber security, explore Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems and understand multiple numbering systems used in network addressing and configuration. They will also gain experience in vulnerability identification, risk assessment, risk mitigation techniques, Wi-Fi security, IP addressing and informational ethics. The Partners-In-Education program links area businesses and industries with schools in Decatur, Hartselle and Morgan County to provide educational opportunities for the students and increase the awareness of area businesses and industries. Partnerships also heighten awareness of present and future job needs, help improve the education of future employees and customers, and increases understanding of the quality and needs of public school systems, whose health is vital to the community's economic well being. This breakfast and work session for partners and schools is an opportunity to gather to discuss needs for the schools, available resources and a vision for their collaboration.
