The City of Decatur compensation plan is based on an 18-step progression system.  The following reflects the entry level potential in the assigned grade/range. 
**A starting salary above the minimum point of the assigned range may be considered commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with the City’s pay administration policies**

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • This position is responsible for the enforcement of federal, state and local law and the protection of life and property.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma from an accredited high school or equivalent GED.
  • Must be proficient in the English language.
  • Possession of valid driver’s license issued by the State of Alabama.
  • Ability to meet current requirements set forth by the Alabama Peace Officer Standard and Training Commission
