SUMMARY Implement, maintain, administer and support all hardware and software related to information technology in order to increase informational and operational efficiencies for Decatur Utilities by performing the following duties.

We believe that teamwork, open communication, honesty, integrity, fairness, diversity and respect for each other are essential traits to perform all job duties. • Implement, maintain, administer and support end-user (desktops, laptops, mobile devices and peripherals), server and network hardware • Implement, maintain, administer and support end-user and server applications • Administer Active Directory and O365 objects and permissions • Administer Physical and Virtual infrastructure • Administer VoIP phone system and contact center applications • Support automatic vehicle location, access control and video surveillance software and equipment • Assist in determination and implementation of Cybersecurity protocols and procedures • Interface with hardware, software, security and cloud service vendors • Recommend, evaluate and implement changes in hardware, software, processes, cybersecurity and quality control standards to improve system efficiencies, security and information confidentiality • Perform maintenance, patching and upgrades to end-user, server and network devices • Maintain information systems to insure proper backup, security and disaster recovery • Backup to Technology Support Technician positions
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position provides general scheduling and work planning for the Technology Support Technician(s). Responsibilities include training, scheduling, planning, assigning and directing workflow of employees and addressing complaints and resolving problems. All leadership responsibilities are carried out in accordance with applicable State/Federal employment laws and Decatur Utilities’ policies and procedures.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Associate degree or a combination of technical certifications in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field of study from accredited college or university. A minimum of 5 years professional-level experience working with Microsoft Operating Systems (Active Directory, Exchange, SQL), Microsoft Office 365 Administration, Job Description pg 2 Decatur Utilities Approved By: John Kuhlman Date: 2/3/2023 Original on File in Human Resources Virtualization, Backup and Cloud solutions and Server Hardware. Experience with VoIP, Access Control, Video Surveillance, Firewalls, Switches and Routers. Basic knowledge and understanding of Cybersecurity principles and practices.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS Able to read and interpret software and hardware manuals, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with employees and supervisors.
COMPUTER SKILLS Ability to use computers for data entry, internal communications, word processing, data base tracking and spreadsheet applications.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as financial and operational cost justifications. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages and ratios to practical situations. REASONING/COMPLEXITY Ability to use a high level of judgment and analytical ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and provide solutions to moderately complex situations. Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to read, interpret, understand and apply technical specifications. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT Has discretion about walking, sitting and standing. Job occasionally requires stooping or bending and moderate lifting (up to 40 pounds) may be required. General office environment with no major source of discomfort. May be exposed to occasional less-than-optimal temperature and air conditions when in the field.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, TRAINING Valid Alabama Driver's License, Customer Service Skills, Supervisory/Leadership Skills and applicable safety training as scheduled.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS Available to work scheduled and unscheduled times to accommodate work demands and emergency situations; good organizational and time management skills; ability to handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously; willing to attend meetings, conferences and training related to Information Systems to enhance job knowledge and skills; maintain professional business appearance and image; subject to random drug testing and driver’s license checks.
