The role of state government impacts our lives each day. Whether it is infrastructure, education, healthcare or economic development, the work of Montgomery affects our lives in Decatur-Morgan County.
For that reason, we are excited to welcome State Sen. Arthur Orr as the featured speaker for the next YP Leadership Luncheon, presented by Ascend Performance Materials. Sen. Orr plans to provide an update on state government, but wants to hear from young professionals and how he can best serve you in state government.
Orr has represented Morgan County and parts of Madison and Limestone Counties since being elected in 2006, and was unopposed in 2018 to serve his fourth term. The Morgan County native is a former Peace Corps staff member in Nepal and former staff attorney for Habitat for Humanity in Bangladesh before settling back in Decatur, where he is Executive Vice President over finance and accounting, human resources, property management, legal, technology, marketing and advertising for Cook's Pest Control. He currently serves as the chairperson of the Finance and Taxation Education Committee, as well serving on other committees including the General Fund, Rules, Judiciary, Governmental Affairs, and Fiscal Responsibility and Economic Development.
