Position Overview
Phoenix Accounting is seeking a Part-Time or Seasonal CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) to assist with tax preparation, advisory, and client accounting projects during our busy season—with the opportunity to continue in an ongoing part-time role after tax season.
The ideal candidate will not only support tax season work but also continue to assist with bookkeeping, payroll, tax strategy, and offer-in-compromise engagements throughout the year. This is a fully remote, flexible position offering an hourly rate plus performance-based incentive bonuses for service excellence and client conversions.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review individual (1040), business (1120/1120S/1065), and related tax returns
- Conduct year-end and quarterly reconciliations and financial reviews
- Provide tax strategy planning and identify advisory opportunities
- Assist with bookkeeping and payroll management for assigned clients
- Support offer-in-compromise (OIC) cases and IRS communication as needed
- Maintain and manage workflows within TaxDome and Financial Cents
- Collaborate with the Phoenix Accounting team to ensure client satisfaction and accuracy
- Uphold firm standards for professionalism, timeliness, and confidentiality
Qualifications
- Active CPA or EA license (required)
- Minimum 3 years of tax preparation and review experience
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Online, TaxDome, and Financial Cents
- Strong understanding of tax law, compliance, and accounting principles
- Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Experience with equine or small-business clients is a plus
Compensation & Schedule
- Part-Time / Seasonal, Fully Remote
- Hourly rate based on experience (no per-return structure)
- Performance-based incentive bonuses for productivity and client success
