Since 1931, the Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce has been dedicated to fostering economic growth and supporting businesses in Decatur and Morgan County, Alabama. We are now the voice for more than 800 member businesses and industries, driving initiatives that enhance economic, political, and social development in our community.

Position Overview:
We are seeking an enthusiastic, mission-driven professional to join our team as the Director of Investor and Leadership Development. In this pivotal role, you will build and nurture relationships with Chamber members and investors, champion key leadership programs, and play a vital part in advancing the Chamber’s mission. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a lasting impact on the growth and prosperity of our region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Member and Investor Engagement:
    • Recruitment and retention of Chamber members by communicating benefits and fostering participation.
    • Develop relationships with current and prospective investors through meetings, briefings, and communication materials.
    • Plan exclusive VIP investor events and manage annual investor invitations.
  • Leadership Programs:
    • Facilitate the Adult Excellence in Leadership program, including 10 sessions, a community project, and graduation.
    • Facilitate the Edge Student Leadership program, managing the selection process, nine sessions, four community projects, and a graduation event.
    • Coordinate the Montgomery Trip for adults and students.
  • Events and Budget Management:
    • Assist in planning key Chamber events, including the Small Business Awards Luncheon and the Annual Meeting.
    • Prepare and manage budgets for assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Chamber Advocacy and Support:
    • Act as a visible advocate for the Chamber through volunteerism and participation in community initiatives.
    • Support other Chamber activities, events, and communications as needed.
What We’re Looking For:
  • A motivated, detail-oriented individual with a passion for community engagement and business advocacy.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Creativity in developing value-driven relationships with stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms.
  • A background in program facilitation or member relations is a plus.
  • Education: Two-year college degree or 5+ years of relevant experience preferred.
Work Schedule and Requirements:
  • Full-time role (40-45 hours per week), with some early morning and occasional evening commitments for events.
  • Limited travel for professional development.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds, stand for extended periods, and work indoors or outdoors as needed.
