Deep South Construction Pros is a dedicated team providing high-quality foundation repair and waterproofing solutions. As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a Bookkeeper/HR Coordinator to oversee financial and human resource operations, ensuring smooth and efficient business functions.

Position Overview
This role will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing payroll, handling accounts payable/receivable, and ensuring compliance with tax regulations. Additionally, the position will manage HR responsibilities such as onboarding, benefits coordination, and compliance with employment laws. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and proficient in QuickBooks Online with a strong understanding of accounting principles.


Key Responsibilities

Financial Management:

    •    Maintain financial records, including general ledger entries, accounts payable, and receivable.

    •    Process invoices, payroll, and expense reports while ensuring compliance with company policies.

        Reconcile bank and credit card statements to maintain accurate financial records.

        Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management review.

        Assist in budgeting and financial forecasting to support business objectives.

        Ensure timely tax filings, including payroll and sales tax.

        Collaborate with external accountants and auditors for compliance and tax preparations.

        Recommend and implement improvements to financial procedures for efficiency.

Human Resources Management:

        Coordinate employee benefits and communicate updates regarding health insurance, rates, and enrollment.

        Manage new hire onboarding, background checks, and employment verification.

        Maintain and update the employee handbook and training materials.

        Ensure compliance with employment laws, particularly within Alabama.

        Keep Management informed of liability insurance and other HR-related matters.

Qualifications & Skills Required

        Experience: Preferred 3+ years in bookkeeping or accounting, preferably in construction or a related industry.

        Education: Preferred Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

        Technical Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel. Familiarity with Google Workspace (formerly G Suite) and Microsoft Office 365. Experience with construction CRM software is a plus.

        Accounting Knowledge: Understanding of accrual accounting, job costing, and financial reporting.

        Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently and meet deadlines.

        HR Knowledge: Familiarity with employee onboarding, payroll processing, and benefits coordination.

        Communication: Strong written and verbal skills for interacting with employees, vendors, and management.

        Problem-Solving: Analytical thinking to resolve financial and HR-related issues.

Work Schedule & Expectations

      Physical Demands: Ability to sit for extended periods, use a computer, and lift up to 25 lbs.

•    Full-Time: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (flexibility required as needed).
