Calhoun Appoints New Director of Its Workforce Solutions Division
Decatur, AL – Calhoun Community College is proud to announce the appointment of Jamie Glover as Director of Workforce Solutions. After serving as Interim Director for the past seven months and previously as Workforce Project Manager, Glover now steps into the permanent leadership role with more than two decades of public service experience and a commitment to workforce advancement across North Alabama.
Glover holds a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Studies with a minor in Business Administration from Athens State University. Her career is defined by 23 years of dedicated public service, including more than a decade within the Alabama Community College System. Central to her leadership philosophy is a deep passion for guiding non-traditional students back into the workforce. She operates under the personal motto, “slow progress is better than no progress.”
That commitment was shaped during her 12 years with the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office, where she managed the Work Release Program. She later expanded her impact in Adult Education, providing guidance and encouragement to help non-traditional students succeed.
As Calhoun’s Workforce Solutions (CWS) director, Glover serves as the administrative officer responsible for external engagement to assess and promote the College’s workforce development programs, services, and capabilities at the local, state, and national levels. In this role, she supervises the functional units within CWS and Community Education programs, oversees organizational development and resource planning, and ensures the College remains responsive to the evolving needs of business and industry.
Glover works closely with the College’s academic staff to develop curricula aligned with workforce demands and to create accessible pathways for students. Her vision includes a straight-to-work track for individuals seeking immediate employment, as well as a bridge between non-credit and credit-bearing programs for those pursuing long-term career growth. By leveraging her expertise in curriculum development, she aims to ensure every student has a clear and attainable path to success.
She will collaborate with policy makers and economic developers at all levels to identify industry training needs and organize the resources necessary to deliver employer-driven solutions. This includes planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating customized training programs in partnership with clients and project managers. She also develops strategies to secure state and federal funding, assists in acquiring government and industry grants and endowments, and generates revenue streams through public and private sector contracts.
“Jamie is well-known for her advocacy of LEAN leadership, which helps her not only streamline day-to-day workflows but also maximize the resources and efficiency of her staff,” commented Dr. Jimmy Hodges, Calhoun President. “Her financial management has helped the College secure funding, maintain audit readiness, and ensure that CWS remains results-driven and responsive to our industry partners. Her consistent engagement with manufacturers, business leaders, and civic organizations throughout Calhoun’s service area to promote our services has been key in strengthening partnerships that allow us to deliver high-impact training programs to meet industry needs,” Hodges added.
Beyond her professional achievements, Glover is devoted to her family. She and her husband, Mike, are the parents of four grown children who are now raising families of their own, bringing the joy of six grandchildren into their lives.
