JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: System Administrator I
CLASSIFICATION/PAYSCALE: Information Technology I, Non-Exempt
DIVISION: Administration
UNIT: Business Unit
WORK STATION: Information Systems
SUPERVISOR: Chief Financial Officer
POSITIONS SUPERVISED: None

MINIMUM EXPECTATIONS: In addition to the basic expectations for all personnel, the business unit
staff will practice positive guest relations and carry out those administrative functions that enable the
clinical unit to meet its performance goals.

DUTIES:
• Area of responsibility: Manage the LAN/WAN and telephone communications network within
the organization. Plan for future network growth requirements; design and develop
specifications and standards for existing and proposed communications services.
• Area of responsibility: Install, configure, and maintain network hardware and software,
including server and workstation operating systems and applications, as well as assist in the
ongoing development and maintenance of the organization’s infrastructure.
• Area of responsibility: Implementation and maintenance of SQL Server databases, including
security, backup, recovery, performing data maintenance tasks, and insuring systems are
functioning optimally.
• Area of responsibility: Maintain network and data security, ensuring that communications
access, security, printing services, operating systems, electronic mail, and desktop
applications function properly and adhere to established standards.
• Area of responsibility: Ensure that organization’s Data Backup Plan and Disaster Recovery
Plan procedures are followed in order to maintain availability, integrity and security of
organization’s data.
• Area of responsibility: Assist helpdesk - help employees with day-to-day computer hardware
and software issues.
• Area of responsibility: Monitor daily network activities, including measuring server and network
resource performance and availability, using analysis programs and preparing reports of that
analysis, analyzing traffic flow and volume on the network, adjusting network parameters to
improve performance.
• Area of responsibility: Troubleshoot network usage problems, providing technical support for
communications equipment, network server systems and related software.
• Area of responsibility: Train employees on the proper use of computers, software and phone
system usage.
• Area of responsibility: Schedule preventive and emergency maintenance for the network with
minimal disruption to users.
• Area of responsibility: Maintain computer, network, and related equipment inventories.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s Degree in an IT/IS related field and minimum of 2 years related experience, or
Associate’s Degree in an IT/IS related field and 4 years related experience, or 6 years related
experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
• Troubleshooting techniques, including ability to solve complex hardware or software problems.
• Experience in Microsoft Hyper-V virtual environments
• Experience with Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy, Microsoft Exchange, Sharepoint,
Microsoft SQL, and Remote Desktop Services.
• Ability to create and maintain complete and accurate documentation.
• Ability to maintain knowledge of current cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and remediation.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Ability to prioritize and delegate diverse responsibilities.

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED/DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience in writing computer programming/stored procedures/triggers.
• Working knowledge of common business practices.
• Project management experience.
• Certifications such as CompTIA Network+ or CompTIA Security+.
• Experience with Linux distributions such as Ubuntu or CentOS.
